Lenovo ThinkPad T400
I'm using this computer since 2010, and it has been the king of reliability. I adore the rock solid architecture and functional design.
This computer is my main workstation setup with Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2003. It runs a bit slow but well although a lot of corporate stuff is running on the background. I use it at home, at the office, on the field (in the surgery room connected to lasers or over my cars trunk with a mobile connection, or often in a Starbucks Coffee).
The main feature I expect from a laptop is reliability and functionality. The build quality is really satisfying. The lid is coated with a Teflon material so its very hard to scratch. Also its not a problem if you spill water or any cold liquid on the keyboard, because there are drainage holes on the bottom (I never tried or experienced it though). I also like the dedicated buttons for volume adjustment, and the ability to use both a track pad and a classic red TrackPoint.
This model is equipped with Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 at 2.53 GHz and 1.93 GB of RAM. There are 3x USB, 1x 1394 Firewire, 1x PCMCIA Express, 1x SD-Card, VGA, Ethernet, Phone ports, 3.5 mm audio output, mic input, physical wireless enable/disable button, keyboard illumination from top of the screen, fingerprint sensor, DVD+/-RW, 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.0. The battery I'm using has 9 cells so it takes around 3 to 4 hours before I need the charger.
